Basketball Recap: Kayla Tinkey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coventry Christian over Atlantic Christian

Coventry Christian played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 44-21 to the Atlantic Christian Cougars. While losing is never fun, Coventry Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 659th in Pennsylvania, while Atlantic Christian is ranked 219th in New Jersey).

Several Coventry Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayla Tinkey, who posted six points along with 12 boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Tinkey a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Gregory, who put up four points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Gianna Flynn was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Atlantic Christian. Caelyn Domsic was another key player, posting eight points.

Coventry Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11-1 record this season. As for Atlantic Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5-1.

Coventry Christian will square off against High Point Baptist Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coventry Christian is facing High Point Baptist Academy at the right time seeing as High Point Baptist Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Atlantic Christian, they will challenge The Pilgrim Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pilgrim Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
