After a string of eight wins, the Camarillo Scorpions's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Oak Park 51-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Camarillo in their matchups with Oak Park: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Camarillo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christa Contreras. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Contreras has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Emerson Martin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Camarillo's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6. As for Oak Park, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camarillo will square off against Moorpark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moorpark will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Camarillo is ranked 144th). As for Oak Park, they will head out on the road to challenge Simi Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
