The Austin Panthers were the 45-31 winner over the Port Allegany Gators when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Austin took a hard 54-35 fall against Port Allegany on Monday. Austin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Port Allegany's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brynn Evens led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Evens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayleigha Dowell, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Austin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Port Allegany, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Allegany, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oswayo Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Port Allegany is coming into the game with six straight wins at home, so Oswayo Valley is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
