Fairbury is 9-1 against Wilber-Clatonia since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Jeffs are taking a road trip to take on the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Fairbury has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fairbury couldn't beat Highway 6 on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Jeffs came up short against the Trailblazers, falling 14-6. The Jeffs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fairbury saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrie Hynek, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Jordin Gill was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Wilber-Clatonia had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 8-5. Eight seems to be a good number for the Wolverines as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kariss Rosenthal was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Mischnick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Korrina Paulsen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Wilber-Clatonia's record now sits at 14-11. As for Fairbury, their loss dropped their record down to 6-18.
Fairbury suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Wilber-Clatonia in their previous meeting on Saturday. Can the Jeffs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
