Volleyball Recap: Pearl Wins Going Away Against Meridian

Pearl played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Meridian Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Pearl never let Meridian on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.

Zoe Shellwood paced Pearl's offense, picking up seven kills. Shellwood got some help from Izzy Watts and her 14 assists. Taylar Walker controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Pearl's victory bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Meridian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pearl is set to take on their familiar foe Brandon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Meridian will face off against rival Petal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
