Minnewaska Area had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They found themselves the relunctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-27 punch to the gut against Maple Lake on Thursday. Minnewaska Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Maple Lake apparently hadn't forgotten their loss from the last time the teams met up. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Minnewaska Area off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Maple Lake a 1-0 record.
Minnewaska Area will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 7:00 PM. Maple Lake are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Eden Valley-Watkins next week at 7:00 PM.
