Imperial got a massive performance out of Jacob Milan, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Milan has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Ares Velarde also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Brawley earned an 8-5 victory over Shadow Hills on Thursday.
Giovanni Guerra looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sergio Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jon Angel Aguirre was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Brawley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Imperial's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Brawley, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Imperial skirted past Brawley 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
