The Newington Nor'easters will take on the Berlin Redcoats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Newington 10.8, Berlin 9) so any points scored will be well earned.
Last Friday, Newington earned an 18-7 victory over Farmington. The Nor'easters haven't had any issues with the River Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Josiah Sims had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 168 yards and two scores. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104.4 rushing yards per game.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Newington proved: they limited Farmington to a paltry 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Heath Weeden for the heroic effort on defense: he. Newington's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.6.
Newington's defense didn't let Mason Kiniry, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. David Garolrfo refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Farmington's side was Geronimo Ortiz, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Berlin got themselves on the board against RHAM on Saturday, but RHAM never followed suit. They breezed past the Raptors to the tune of 48-0. The Redcoats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.
Berlin's win came from a few key players Newington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cody Puzio, who threw for 100 yards and four TDs on only six passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Carmine Rio was another key player, picking up 92 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Berlin's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Newington, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Newington has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Berlin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Newington suffered a grim 38-16 defeat to Berlin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Nor'easters, Jon Jon Morales (who rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also picked up 69 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
