San Diego is 1-9 against University City since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. San Diego is taking a road trip to face off against University City at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in San Diego's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
San Diego barely beat Mount Miguel the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. San Diego was the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Mount Miguel on Tuesday. The Cavers have beaten the Matadors the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Matadors has come to flipping the script.

Esteban Quintana
Esteban Quintana looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Diego is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise.
At the plate, Jayden Harris was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Aidan Hochman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
San Diego hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while University City put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for El Capitan. University City walked away with a 4-0 win over El Capitan. The victory was nothing new for the Centurions as they're now sitting on four straight.
Carson Hildebrandt looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, University City's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jade Barth, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run was Barth's first of the season.
San Diego's record now sits at 4-6. As for University City, their record now sits at 8-1.
San Diego suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to University City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can San Diego avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
