The Moreno Valley Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Poly Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Poly took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Moreno Valley, who comes in off a win.
Moreno Valley gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Paloma Valley. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Moreno Valley got a great performance from A. Vasquez as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Vasquez also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Vikings are 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, J. Burrola was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. A. Diaz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Poly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Tahquitz. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bears, who until this contest were averaging 4.1 runs allowed.
Matt Henry made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Neri, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Moreno Valley and bumps their season record up to 12-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Moreno Valley might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Poly when the teams last played back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
