The Lindhurst Blazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 22nd straight defeat. They were beaten by Bear River 63-28. While losing is never fun, Lindhurst can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1193rd, while the Bruins are ranked 268th).
It was another big night for Taryn Cleek, who scored 22 points along with six steals for Bear River. Cleek is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. Marianna Moya-Krill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Lindhurst's defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Bear River, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lindhurst will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Wheatland is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Bear River, they will head out on the road to take on the Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sutter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday.
