Newton got themselves on the board against South Gwinnett on Thursday, but South Gwinnett never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 16-0 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Newton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for South Gwinnett, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Newton and South Gwinnett could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Rams (ranked 186th) will meet Eastside (ranked second) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, South Gwinnett will square off against Grovetown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (316 vs. 54).
