The Mountain Empire Redhawks won the last time they faced the Borrego Springs Rams, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mountain Empire took down Borrego Springs 32-16.
Mountain Empire was led to victory by Bibi Caceres and Aisha Acevedo. Caceres scored 9 points, while Acevedo scored 9 points.
Borrego Springs' loss came despite strong showings from Abigail Gonzalez and Briana Torres. Gonzalez scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Torres scored 0 points. Gonzalez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
The win got Mountain Empire back to even at 1-1. As for Borrego Springs, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Mountain Empire will be playing at home against The Cambridge School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Borrego Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tri-City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday.
