If the DCP Alum Rock Lobos were feeling good off their 27-4 takedown of the Cindy Avitia Jaguars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. DCP Alum Rock fell just short of Eastside College Prep by a score of 30-27. DCP Alum Rock lost against Eastside College Prep in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 40-0 score last time.
DCP Alum Rock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrea Munguia, who scored 6 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Munguia is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Carbajal, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
DCP Alum Rock's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Eastside College Prep, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
DCP Alum Rock will look to defend their home court on Friday against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy at 5:00 p.m. As for Eastside College Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Redwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Redwood Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
