While the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles's win against the Hanover Central Wildcats wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came away the winners. Lake Station Edison sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 win over Hanover Central on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Lake Station Edison has posted since November 9, 2023.
Hanover Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sienna Antkiewicz, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Noel, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Lake Station Edison pushed their record up to 15-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hanover Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.
Lake Station Edison on the road again on Tuesday and play against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Hanover Central, they will square off against Hammond Bishop Noll at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hammond Bishop Noll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Hanover Central is ranked 136th).
