Giovanni Ulloa was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Bishop Montgomery entered their tilt with Salesian on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Mustangs 10-3.
Bishop Montgomery also got a great performance from Kai Cadena as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Howe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sean Yanko, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Bishop Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Animo Leadership is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 16-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Both Animo Leadership and Bishop Montgomery just can't seem to miss. The Aztec Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Bishop Montgomery struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Animo Leadership came up short against Bishop Montgomery when the teams last played back in February of 2019, falling 4-0. Can the Aztec Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
