Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 19-15 win over Independence on Tuesday. The Titans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Centennial got a massive performance out of Rylie Shelton, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Shelton has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Saucedo, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Irving's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Centennial, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Irving has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
