Redwood is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Tamalpais is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Giants will host the Red Tailed Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Redwood 3.1, Tamalpais 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Redwood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Terra Linda. The Giants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Matthew Knauer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Ethan Ferry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kaelin Christman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Redwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tamalpais and Novato meet (seven straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Red Tailed Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets, sneaking past 4-2.
Eli Solem made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Kramlich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Redwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Tamalpais, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tamalpais struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Redwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Tamalpais in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Giants repeat their success, or do the Red Tailed Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
