De La Salle is 9-1 against Dougherty Valley since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (De La Salle has seven straight victories, Dougherty Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, De La Salle earned a 7-2 win over Amador Valley.

De La Salle got a great performance from Roman Bartosh as he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Bartosh has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ethan Sullivan was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Gray, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
De La Salle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amador Valley only posted a batting average of .240.
Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley came up short against Monte Vista on Friday, falling 9-3.
Dougherty Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Weng, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Ajay Sahi also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
De La Salle pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Dougherty Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.
Dougherty Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. De La Salle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dougherty Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will De La Salle keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Everything went De La Salle's way against Dougherty Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as De La Salle made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
