Stockdale is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Centennial is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will welcome the Golden Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Stockdale 3, Centennial 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Stockdale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Ridgeview on Friday. The Mustangs have beaten the Wolf Pack the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolf Pack has come to flipping the script.
Owen Hill made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Gabriel Borja looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Stockdale got a massive performance out of Charlie Ryder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Eberly, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Stockdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Centennial was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Liberty 8-7.
Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Stockdale, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Stockdale couldn't quite get it done against Centennial when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
