Two dominant players in Brooklyn Syster and Kristin Szymusiak are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Purchase Line Red Dragons will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Blacklick Valley Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Purchase Line has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Blacklick Valley will arrive with eight straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Purchase Line had to suffer through a rough 69-38 loss at the hands of Penns Manor. While losing is never fun, Purchase Line can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Penns Manor is ranked 88th).
Blacklick Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Glendale 47-25.
Kaydence Killinger was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Killinger is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Yewcic, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Blacklick Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Purchase Line couldn't quite finish off Blacklick Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 and fell 67-64. Thankfully for Purchase Line, Maria Mcconnell (who shot 4-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
