The Fillmore Flashes will square off against the Santa Paula Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fillmore's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Nordhoff. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flashes.
The result came thanks to Thomas Alamillo's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fillmore is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Jacob Renteria was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Paula). They put the hurt on Carpinteria with a sharp 12-0 victory on Friday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Colin Dominguez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Angel Casimiro was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Santa Paula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Santa Paula is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fillmore, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fillmore has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Santa Paula struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fillmore suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Santa Paula in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Flashes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
