The St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Collins. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (55), St. Helena College and Career Academy still had to take the loss.
Collins got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Willingham out in front who scored 27 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Willingham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan White, who scored 15 points along with nine steals.
St. Helena College and Career Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Collins, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Helena College and Career Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against French Settlement at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. French Settlement presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Helena College and Career Academy in Louisiana (French Settlement is ranked 49th, while St. Helena College and Career Academy is ranked 249th). As for Collins, they will head out on the road to square off against Richton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Richton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday.
