Softball Recap: Berthoud Has No Trouble Against Niwot

Berthoud barely beat Niwot the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Cougars 9-3 on Saturday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Chloe Sadar-Holmes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carys McGuinn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Hughes, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Berthoud kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Berthoud's record is now 4-5. As for Niwot, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Coincidentally, Berthoud and Niwot will both be playing Fort Collins the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Lambkins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
