Basketball Recap: Stockton Christian Triumphs

Stockton Christian came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 59-58 victory over the Vanguard College Prep Lions. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Lions on January 9th, they had to take a 64-62 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stockton Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Chamblee, who posted 21 points. Chamblee's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Jordan Henderson, who scored 11 points.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Lopez, who had 17 points. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Julian Castillo was another key player, putting up seven points and seven assists.

Stockton Christian pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Vanguard College Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-11 record.

Stockton Christian has already played their next game (against Don Pedro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Vanguard College Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lodi Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanguard College Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Lodi Academy likes a good challenge.
