This season hasn't been kind to the Ambridge Bridgers, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were the victim of a tough 63-37 defeat at the hands of Quaker Valley on Wednesday. Ambridge lost against Quaker Valley in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-20 score last time.
Quaker Valley found their leader in underclassman Oumou Thiero, who dropped a triple-double on 41 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Thiero has scored at least 25% of Quaker Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Chapman, who scored ten points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Ambridge bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Quaker Valley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ambridge will take on Sto-Rox at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Sto-Rox is ranked 645th, while Ambridge is ranked 640th). Quaker Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th.
