Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Rockmart Yellowjackets walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 45-21 victory on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for Rockmart who now have ten in a row.
Rockmart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calliyon Thompson, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nahzir Turner was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Toombs County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tj Stanley, who threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshon Deloach, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rockmart's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.8 points per game. As for Toombs County, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Rockmart has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Cook at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Cook will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. Toombs County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
