The Muir Mustangs will head out to square off against the Pasadena Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on May 5. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on May 5.
Pasadena will be up against a hot Muir squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Mustangs blew past Hoover 8-2 on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Conrad Hunziker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Luca Cano was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Arturo Ayers, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, Pasadena never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Glendale with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Nitros: they've now won three in a row.
Pasadena's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Derosier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The Bulldogs are 2-1 when Derosier posts one or more home runs, but 7-11-1 otherwise.
Pasadena's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-12-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Muir, their record is now 16-8.
Pasadena's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Muir has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Pasadena, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Muir's hitters?
Muir couldn't quite get it done against Pasadena in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
