Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Bison vs. Valley View Eagles

The Liberty Bison will venture away from home to challenge the Valley View Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Valley View will be coming in after a loss.

Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over Lakeside. The victory continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.

Tylor Copeland looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Liberty is 4-1 when Copeland allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Rowen Baynes was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Brandon Ansell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, while it was Valley View who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Paloma Valley who put up more. The Eagles took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Eagles have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Cainon Wrisley was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Deavon Mahoney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Liberty now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Valley View, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Liberty beat Valley View 12-9 in their previous matchup on April 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
