The Washington Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Irvington. If Washington hoped to take revenge for the 57-46 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nia Owens, who scored 13 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zariyah Hughes, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Washington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Irvington, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will take on Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Irvington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Moreau Catholic at 7:00 p.m.
