The Northwest Lions will face off against the Parkway Central Colts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northwest is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Northwest took on Eureka on Tuesday. The Lions came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly ten runs.
Northwest saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alli Lewellen, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Parkway Central made easy work of Fox on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Colts have won ten matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Marlee Williamson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Williamson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Olivia Magruder was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Parkway Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fox only posted an OBP of .222.
Parkway Central is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
Northwest came out on top in a nail-biter against Parkway Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
