The Lower Lake Trojans's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Willits. For Lower Lake, this counts as revenge for the 48-43 loss Willits walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Lower Lake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiahna Tubbs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Tubbs is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Benson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Willits lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elena Arkelian, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arkelian has scored all season. Cecily Potter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Willits smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lower Lake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Willits, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Lake will take on St. Helena at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for St. Helena: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Lower Lake has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Willits, they will challenge Kelseyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
