Dia Bell, Ryder Lyons headline top 10 quarterbacks in high school football heading into 2025 season

Earlier this summer, we kicked off our preview of the 2025 high school football season with the preseason MaxPreps Top 25, expanded top 100, best team in each state and best player in each state. Next, we zone in on the players by position starting with the quarterbacks.

Dia Bell of American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), Ryder Lyons of Folsom (Calif.) and Faizon Brandon of Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) headline the 10 best at the position heading into the fall. 

Bell is coming off an impressive junior campaign, throwing for 2,597 yards and 29 touchdowns while completing over 70 percent of his passes. He added 561 yards on the ground and five more scores.

Lyons has put up big numbers over the last two seasons accounting for 8,103 yards of total offense and 121 touchdowns. 

Brandon checks in as the top-rated player in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports. He led the Whirlies to a 4A state title and was named the MaxPreps North Carolina Player of the Year.

In total, eight of the 10 quarterbacks will be seniors. Elijah Haven of Dunham (Baton Rouge, La.) and Peyton Houston of Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, La.) were the only non-seniors selected.  1. Dia Bell, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)

Has gone 29-1 over last two years throwing for 5,840 yards and 71 touchdowns while adding 1,153 yards rushing and 18 more scores.

Last year's MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while leading Eagles to first state title since 2015. He added 637 yards on the ground and 18 more scores.

Top-rated prospect in Class of 2027 was named MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year after accounting for 4,018 yards of total offense (3,093 passing, 925 rushing) and 58 total touchdowns.

The 2024 MaxPreps Ohio Player of the Year threw for 4,187 yards and 57 touchdowns for Division I state runner-up.

The four-star recruit became the third quarterback in high school football history to throw for 800 yards or more in a game last season. He completed 53 of 68 passes for 817 yards and eight touchdowns in a 77-76 loss to Captain Shreve (Shreveport).
