No. 1 in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings, Cherry Creek (11-0) rolled in its Class 5A playoff opener with a 31-14 victory against ThunderRidge.
No. 2 Ralston Valley and defending champion and No. 3 Valor Christian also scored easy victories, but there was one upset in the top 10 as No. 15 Eaglecrest knocked out Centennial League rival and No. 8 Grandview 28-21.
Other 5A showdowns included No. 6 Regis Jesuit beating No. 20 Highlands Ranch 49-7, and No. 5 Columbine delivering No. 21 Smoky Hill its first loss of the season in a 43-14 win Thursday.
In 4A, previously unbeaten No. 18 Vista PEAK Prep was eliminated with a 27-12 loss to Heritage.
In Saturday's notable action, Basalt upended No. 24 Rifle 21-14, eliminating the top seed in Class 2A. Also, No. 9 Mead, the top seed in the 3A ranks, remained unbeaten with a 41-7 win against Harrison.
