The University City Centurions's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 36-27 victory over San Diego. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but University City was the better team in the second half.
University City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chaya Scott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Scott has scored at least a third of University City's points. Eva Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, San Diego still got an impressive performance from Mackenzie Nitzel, who scored six points along with 19 rebounds. Nitzel hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 16 straight games.
University City's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for San Diego, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-12.
University City's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. University City is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a 21-game losing streak. As for San Diego, they will head out on the road to take on Point Loma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully San Diego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday.
