Bishop Union has gone a perfect 10-0 against Desert recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Broncos will take on the Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. One thing working in Bishop Union's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
On Friday, Bishop Union got the win against Rosamond by a conclusive 18-4. Considering the Broncos have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brayden Leeson was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Aiden Frechette also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bishop Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosamond only posted an OBP of .381.
Meanwhile, Desert came up short against Kern Valley on Friday, falling 11-2. The Scorpions have struggled against the Broncs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Desert saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Terndrup, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Erick Cordova was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Bishop Union is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Desert, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Union has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .529. However, it's not like Desert struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Union took their win against Desert in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
