high school volleyball. America's source for high school sports
continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the
top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and
individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Read on for a look at who earned player of the year honors in your state.

Alabama Blakeley Robbins, Bayside Academy (Daphne)Only the 12th player in state history to surpass the 4,000-assist mark, she helped the Admirals to a 46-10 season with 1,283 assists. She added 163 kills, 82 aces and 328 digs.
Alaska
Emma Beck, Kenai Central (Kenai)The senior hitter blasted 810 kills as the Kardinals went 51-5-2 and won the Class 3A title for the second straight season. Beck added 100 aces, 90 blocks and 352 digs.
Arizona
Teraya Sigler, Horizon (Scottsdale)Future Nebraska Cornhusker dropped 30 kills in a five-set, state-title win over Millennium. For the season, she pounded 614 kills (5.2 per set) and added 358 digs as the Huskies went 32-10.
Arkansas
Regan Harp, FayettevilleLed her squad to a Class 6A title after losing a pair of All-Americans to graduation after 2022. Helped Fayetteville to a 25-8 mark with 587 kills and 274 digs.
California
Julia Kakkis, Mater Dei (Santa Ana)The quarterback for an offense that posted more than 1,700 kills. Kakkis tossed up 1,103 assists for the MaxPreps National Champions, adding 281 digs, 84 blocks and 103 kills.
Colorado
Chloe Elarton, Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch)Helped the Eagles to a 29-0 record and Class 5A state title. The daughter of former Major Leaguer Scott Elarton tossed up 975 assists along with 282 digs, 54 blocks and 48 aces.
Connecticut
Aubrey Moore, DarienHelped the Blue Wave to a 28-0 season, a second straight Class LL title and 50-match win streak. The Boston College commit was the Most Outstanding Player of the state tournament with 32 assists, finishing the season with 666 assists.
Delaware
Anna Richardson, SmyrnaDropped a 20-kill performance on Ursuline Academy in a state title victory. The two-time all-state performer helped Smyrna become the first downstate team to win a state title and the first public school since 1992 to do so.
District of Columbia
Jada Aksu, Georgetown DayJunior helped the Mighty Hoppers to a 22-5 mark and second straight D.C. state title. Aksu had 258 kills and 103 digs.
Florida
Lydia Chinchar, Carrollwood Day (Tampa)One of two freshman on the MaxPreps All-America Team helped the Patriots to a 3A title, No. 17 national finish and 31-2 mark. She pounded 573 kills (6.3 per set) with 67 blocks playing alongside sister
Naomi Chinchar (924 assists) and for father Doug.
Georgia
Logan Wiley, AlpharettaThe AAAAAA Player of the Year helped the Raiders to a 38-3 record, winning a state title and finishing No. 13 in the MaxPreps Top 25. Wiley had 417 kills this season, finishing her career with more than 1,500. She added 91 blocks.
Hawaii
Adrianna Arquette, Kamehameha Kapalama (Honolulu)Averaged 4.3 kills per set, hammering 364 total as the No. 18 Warriors went 30-3 and captured the Division 1 title. She added 111 blocks, 30 aces and 264 digs.
Idaho
Alex Bower, Skyview (Nampa)The BYU commit helped the Hawks to their fourth straight title, going 25-6 without losing to an in-state foe. She posted 862 assists along with 123 kills, 59 aces and 197 digs in 100 sets.
Illinois
Ellie White, Mother McAuley (Chicago)Not only has the stats to back up her game but an incredible will to win that sets her apart. The Class 4A state final MVP pounded 484 kills (5.1 per set) as the Mighty Macs won their 17th state title.
Indiana
Lauren Harden, Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers)The MaxPreps National Player of the Year tallied 371 kills and ended her career with more than 1,000 as she heads to Florida a back-to-back Class 4A champion.
Iowa
Payton Petersen, Dike-New Hartford (Dike)Three-time state champion led the Wolverines to a 50-0 mark and No. 14 spot in the MaxPreps Top 25. She dropped 616 kills in 110 sets along with 313 digs.
Kansas
Skyler Pierce, Olathe Northwest (Olathe)Nebraska signee had 444 kills for the 34-7 Ravens with 230 digs. She missed time at the beginning of the season with USA Volleyball U19's gold medal winning team.
Kentucky
Charlotte Moriarty, Assumption (Louisville)Senior hitter tallied 413 kills for the Rockets as they won the Kentucky state title. The Xavier commit was a first-team all-state selection.

Louisiana
Camryn Chatellier, St. Mary's Dominican (New Orleans)A four-year champion, she pounded 595 kills this season for Dominican as it went 44-2 with a No. 20 national ranking. She finished her prep career with nearly 1,500 kills and more than 1,000 digs.
Maine
Sophia DiPhilippo, GorhamThe senior setter tossed up 419 assists as the Rams went 15-2 and won the Class A title. She added 129 aces and 45 kills.
Maryland
Emmerson Sellman, The Academy of the Holy Cross (Kensington)Helped the Tartans to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title as well as a gold for USA Volleyball this season. Notched 336 kills, 154 digs and 56 aces as Holy Cross went 29-0.
Massachusetts
Devon Burke, Newton North (Newtonville)Junior helped the Tigers to their fifth title since 2014, pounding 336 kills including 13 in the five-set championship match vs. Barnstable. She notched double-digit kills in all but six matches as Newton North went 25-1.
Michigan
Izzy Busignani, Marian (Bloomfield Hills)Led the 44-8 Mustangs in kills (640) and digs (358) while adding 76 aces and 407 serve receptions.
Minnesota
Stella Swenson, Wayzata (Plymouth)The Star Tribune Player of the Year helped the Trojans to a 33-0 record, No. 9 ranking and a fourth straight state title. Tallied 3,017 assists, 203 blocks, 184 service aces and 632 digs in her career.
Mississippi
Kaylee Lowther, Jackson Academy (Jackson)Leaves the school as a four-time champion. Led an epic five-set final with 34 digs, finishing the year with 719. She added 605 serve receptions this season.
Missouri
Carlie Cisneros, Liberty North (Liberty)Posted 405 kills and 356 digs for the 24-7 Eagles. The No. 7-ranked player by PrepDig ended her four years at Liberty North with 1,642 kills along with 1,292 digs and 143 assists.
Montana
Addie Allen, Billings West (Billings)Setter had 857 assists while quarterbacking her team to a 35-0 record and Class AA title after coming up short in 2021 and 2022. The Montana State signee is the school's all-time assist leader and standout on the basketball court.
Nebraska
Lauren Medeck, Papillion-LaVista South (Papillion)Finished her career with 1,538 kills and 1,313 digs while going 136-11 over four seasons. Medeck tallied 391 kills this season as Papillion-LaVista South went 35-2.
Nevada
Ayanna Watson, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)The MaxPreps Sophomore All-American helped the 34-5 Gaels to a Class 5A title with 605 kills. Gorman's future is bright with fellow sophomore All-American Trinity Thompson as she found Watson for 32 kills in the championship match.
New Hampshire
Lana McCarthy, BedfordPurdue basketball commit had 13 kills in the final as a four-time champion who never lost a match in her career.
New Jersey
Kalena Stavish, Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township)Helped the Blue Eagles to back-to-back Non-Public B titles with 545 assists as they went 29-1. She finishes her career with 1,856 assists.
New Mexico
Addison Massey, Las CrucesThe sophomore led the Bulldawgs to their first state title since 2001, pounding 450 kills in 87 sets. She added 60 aces, 364 serve receptions and 249 digs as Las Cruces went 26-2.
New York
Reagan Ennist, Shenendehowa (Clifton Park)Hammered 456 kills for the Plainsmen as they reached the Class AAA semifinals with a 40-7-1 record. She added 160 digs and 34 blocks, and is approaching 1,000 career kills.
North Carolina
Avery Scoggins, Middle Creek (Apex)Arizona signee led the Mustangs to a 26-1 mark and Class 4A title with 919 assists. The senior had 33 assists in the championship match that Middle Creek played without leading hitter Sally Perez.
North Dakota
Hannah Litzinger, Red River (Grand Forks)Senior led the Roughriders with 335 kills and 406 digs as Red River went 16-9. The Class A first-team all-state pick also had 40 aces.
Ohio
Alec Rothe, Dublin Scioto (Dublin)Three-sport athlete finished her career with 1,311 kills after logging 295 in 70 sets as she played for the gold-medal winning USA Volleyball U19 team at the beginning of the season.
Oklahoma
Maren Johnson, JenksSenior hitter hammered 399 kills for the Class 6A champions. She added 50 blocks and 160 digs as Jenks went 35-5.
Oregon
Paige Theis, Oregon CityHelped the Pioneers to a Class 6A championship game appearance with 404 kills this season.
Pennsylvania
Maggie Smith, Parkland (Allentown)Finished career with more than 3,000 assists, adding 1,115 in her senior season as the Trojans went 34-7-2.
Rhode Island
Ella Maack, North KingstownThe Skippers won their third Division I crown in four years behind the senior setter. She tallied 453 assists this season with 162 kills and 302 digs.
South Carolina
Carly O'Brien, Dorman (Roebuck)The 5-foot-9 hitter led the Cavaliers with 500 kills as her squad won the Class 5A title. Dorman went 35-7 to win their 15th state title as O'Brien finished her career with 1,039 kills and 1,360 digs.
South Dakota
Gabi Zachariasen, HarrisburgSophomore hitter posted 529 kills as the Tigers went 31-0 and won the Class AA title. She dropped 30 kills with 11 digs in the title match.
Tennessee
Lauren Hurst, ClevelandClosing in on 2,000 career kills after posting 766 in her junior season while Cleveland went 42-8 and captured the Division I Class AAA title.
Texas
Macaria Spears, Prestonwood Christian (Plano)MaxPreps Junior of the Year is a force on the court with 334 kills in 88 sets as the Lions landed at No. 3 in the final MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.

Utah
Taylor Harvey, BountifulDeseret News 5A Player of the Year had 589 kills, 44 blocks and 336 digs as the RedHawks went 23-8 with a Class 5A runner-up finish.
Vermont
Izzy Nerad, Essex (Essex Junction)The Hornets went 18-0 with their third straight state title and third undefeated season as Nerad earned first-team all-state honors.
Virginia
Mickhaila Murray, Flint Hill (Oakton)Led the No. 21 Huskies in kills (359), aces (60) and serve receptions (425) while adding 326 digs. Flint Hill won the VISAA Division 1 title with a 33-3 record.
Washington
Ava Jo Berry, WenatcheeThe junior setter led the Panthers to the Class 4A title, their first since 1983. The Big Nine Conference Player of the Year posted 50 assists in an epic five-set final win over North Creek as Wenatchee finished 22-1.
West Virginia
Ada McCoy, Musselman (Inwood)Junior dropped 708 kills in 144 sets as the Applemen went 36-16-2 with a runner-up finish in the Class AAA finals. She added 663 serve receptions and 246 digs.
Wisconsin
Madison Quest, Divine Savior Holy Angels (Milwaukee)Improved her numbers in each of her three seasons with the Dashers, hammering 557 kills this season as her team won its second straight Division 1 title while going 44-1 and finishing No. 6 nationally.
Wyoming
Maddy Stucky, LaramieHelped the Plainsmen to their third Class 4A title in four years. The Wyoming signee finished her senior season with 801 assists, 158 kills, 62 blocks and 210 digs as her team went 33-1.
