If the Burton Scorpions were feeling good off their 43-4 takedown of the Simon Tech Huskies last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Burton was outmatched by the Warriors at home and fell 65-13. Burton has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their game on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Animo Watts' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trisha Hernandez led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariana Liddell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals.
Burton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Animo Watts, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing WISH Academy the next time they take the court. Animo Watts will head out to face WISH Academy at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Burton will host them at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday.
