The Osborne Cardinals will take on the Brookwood Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Osborne was able to grind out a solid victory over Paulding County, taking the game 11-8. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by exactly three runs.
The team relied heavily on Jaden Hall, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cedric Gorman, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Brookwood won against Duluth on Friday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Brookwood beat Duluth by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brookwood also got a great performance from Joe Soto as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Soto also tossed two walks, which is notable because Brookwood is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-7 otherwise.
At the plate, Brookwood let Mason Archie and Boomer Rogozinski run wild. Archie went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Rogozinski scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. What's more, Rogozinski posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Michael Heath was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Brookwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Brookwood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. Osborne pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Osborne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brookwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
