It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Central had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 36-28 win over the Wichita County Indians. The victory was just business as usual for the Timberwolves, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Easton Huck had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 226 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. He has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Another reason for the win was South Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Dakota Thornsberry was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Another thorn in Wichita County's side was Jack Herd, who picked up a sack and made 18 total tackles.
Despite the loss, Wichita County still got an impressive performance from Cashton Young, who rushed for 164 yards and three scores, and also threw for 170 yards and one TD on only 16 passes. The Indians are 7-2 when Young posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
South Central's record is now 11-0. As for Wichita County, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.
South Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 40-32 win against Hill City on the 21st. Wichita County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
