The Willows Honkers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They really took it to Williams for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-15 win on the road. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Willows as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Willows was led to victory by Connie Huttman and Karla Sandoval DiMaggio. Huttman dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 steals, while Sandoval DiMaggio scored 19 points along with five steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Vennus Garcia , who scored five points along with six steals.
Despite the defeat, Williams saw an underclassman step up: Lupita Zuniga scored seven points along with 11 blocks and six rebounds. Zuniga scored a full 46.7% of Williams' points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Vega, who scored three points.
Willows' win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Williams, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Willows won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ferndale at 2:30 p.m. on December 7th. Ferndale presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Willows in California (Ferndale is ranked 447th, while Willows is ranked 940th). As for Williams, they will head out on the road to face off against Winters at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
