Basketball Recap: Polytechnic Skates Past Westridge with Ease

Polytechnic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Westridge Tigers 67-17. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Polytechnic was led to victory by Harper Doyle and Areni Ohanian. Doyle went 9 of 15 on her way to 20 points and three steals, while Ohanian went 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Ohanian is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Tan, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Polytechnic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Polytechnic's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Westridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Polytechnic Panthers duke it out with the Monrovia Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westridge, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Flintridge Prep at 5:00 p.m. Flintridge Prep will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Westridge surely won't give up without a fight.
