Shepard waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They secured a 35-30 W over the Simeon Wolverines.
Simeon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dijona Berrien, who posted six points and 12 boards. Berrien is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheliyah Battle, who had 11 points.
Shepard has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Simeon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Shepard and Proviso East will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Simeon, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
