Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ord). They were the clear victors by a 21-12 margin over the Polk County Slammers on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Chanticleers as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.
Elle Jess was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Whited, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ord hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Ord's victory bumped their record up to 6-22. As for Polk County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.
