The Camarillo Scorpions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Monte Vista 80-33 at home. Camarillo has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.
Camarillo found their leader in underclassman Emerson Martin, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Christa Contreras was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
The win (which was Camarillo's eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Monte Vista, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Camarillo will head out on the road to face off against Oak Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 440 points over their last seven games. Monte Vista won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Helix at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Helix focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
