The Nuview Bridge Knights will venture away from home to take on the Temecula Prep Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Nuview Bridge turned things around against San Jacinto Leadership Academy on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Lions 6-5. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Joshy Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Carson Lagor also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Nuview Bridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Temecula Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on March 1st. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School last Friday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since April 9, 2024.
Braden Litt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over 6.1 innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Temecula Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Elijah Shubin was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Temecula Prep pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.9 runs. As for Nuview Bridge, their record now sits at 2-6.
Nuview Bridge suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Temecula Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Nuview Bridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
