The Mt. Carmel Aces are taking a road trip to take on the Centralia Orphans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Carmel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Mt. Carmel gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Lawrenceville by a score of 14-9. The Aces haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Brendan Bowser made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Asher Coston was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. River Deisher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Mt. Carmel lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Centralia hadn't done well against Belleville East recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Orphans had just enough and edged out the Lancers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Orphans have posted since March 31st.
Centralia's victory was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rhett Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Lambert has become a key player for the Orphans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise.
Centralia now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mt. Carmel, their record now sits at 10-4.
Mt. Carmel couldn't quite finish off Centralia when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Aces avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
