The Franklin Learning Center Bobcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy with a 38-33 win.
Franklin Learning Center's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janai Richardson, who scored 16 points. The game was Richardson's third in a row with at least ten points. Ameira Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aasiyah Moore, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nashae Bouie, who scored 11 points.
Franklin Learning Center's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Learning Center will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on First Philadelphia Prep at 3:15 p.m. on January 10, 2024. After both having extra time off, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy and South Philadelphia will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
