Softball Recap: Alameda Triumphs

While Alameda's victory against Aurora Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 8-7. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alia Gutierrez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Zila Bobian was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Trujillo, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Alameda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory got Alameda back to even at 3-3. As for Aurora Central, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Alameda will square off against Arvada at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Aurora Central, they will welcome Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thornton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
