The Marshall Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season. They blew past El Monte, posting a 64-12 victory at home. The victory was familiar territory for Marshall who now have four in a row.
Marshall's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jolynn Abilar, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Ekpo, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Marshall's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for El Monte, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will take on Mountain View at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1181st, while Marshall is ranked 331st). As for El Monte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South El Monte comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
